Safari Overview

The Usambara Mountains, located in northeastern Tanzania, are part of the Eastern Arc Mountains, known for their biodiversity and stunning landscapes. These ancient mountains, estimated to be over 100 million years old, are divided into two main ranges: the West Usambara and East Usambara. The West Usambaras are characterized by higher elevations and are home to lush forests, while the East Usambaras are closer to the Indian Ocean, resulting in a unique microclimate that supports tropical rainforests. The Usambara Mountains are renowned for their rich variety of flora and fauna, including many endemic species. Visitors can enjoy scenic hiking trails that pass through rainforests, villages, and tea plantations, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding lowlands. The region also has a vibrant cultural heritage, with local communities practicing sustainable farming and conservation. The mountains are an ideal destination for ecotourism and nature enthusiasts, providing a tranquil escape and opportunities for birdwatching, trekking, and exploring remote villages. The area’s combination of natural beauty, ecological significance, and cultural richness makes it a must-visit location in Tanzania.
